NEW DAW FOR MAC SOFTWAREI think I'm too leary of Apple to invest in Apple software beyond the OS, though I'm a hardcore Apple hardware user (ever since the Apple "Lisa" in the early 80s). Plus, I'm really uncomfortable without a "mixer" window. Probably just missed it, but it wasn't intuitive to me. Didn't see quick and easy ways to do some simple things, like add effects to a buss track. Interesting product but missing key features I need. Speaking of Mackie, I downloaded the Tracktion 3 demo. I much prefer Mackie's demo, which adds a hiss noise every so often so you can't really use it, but you can try it on your real project files. NEW DAW FOR MAC MANUALThe manual leaves a lot to be desired, and I don't want to spend a lot of time with a demo that I can't explore in a real world context (i.e. I'm told that the Mac platform is just as important to them as the PC platform, and that the product is rock solid. A real human being - impressive! I hope they get the internal mic thing working on Macs. I've have received responses from Studio One directly. Tomorrow night is my next editing session. wouldn't that just be the ticket?! I'm going to try this. I'm still afraid of the Dynamics plug -)Well, if that's true. This could very well be the cause of your crashes. Try removing all instances of MOTU Dynamics and see what happens. Think I've used it on one or two occasions since with no issues. I've been eyeing ProTools also, v8 looks great but there's too many limitations in LE (can't afford HD) and also I would have to change converters too which would make that option too expensive as well.īut now with DP7 I feel MOTU are back on track after some admittedly struggling years and I don't feel the need to look elsewhere any longer. To me it's a complete mystery how anyone but people working with loops and VIs almost exclusively can like Logic. NEW DAW FOR MAC PDFGetting aboard Logic at version 9 must be a drag also, learning a new DAW that in many ways works totally opposite how DP works having to read a PDF manual. There's obviously things I do like about it too or I wouldn't have tried so hard. There's too much stuff hapening for no reason and other weird stuff. And with every new version I have upgraded and tried again. The earlier ones I understand were fairly daunting.I've REALLY (and I mean it) tried to like Logic. I wonder if everyone saying this is used to the more streamlined versions 8 and 9. What do you use on a Mac? What do you love/hate about your DAW? Honestly, I just with MOTU would get their product stable, but don't respond to any tech support requests, so I have no idea what they're doing. I'm concerned that essential features will be missing, or that the workflow will be annoying. My DAW needs to be the most professional tool in my arsenal. I love my studio monitors and my old mixer, but their software videos look like a joke for people who want a toy, not a professional tool. I don't like Apple tech support.Ĭoncerns about Tracktion. They are notorious for putting in annoying limitations and forcing regular paid upgrades. it's an Apple product, and Apple is big business. compared to the enormous printed manual I have with DP7 (a real luxury).Ĭoncerns about Logic. Does it work? I know it can't record from the internal mic, which I find tell-tale that it might not be really great on Macs vs. I remember looking at Logic years ago, and I felt the interface was not very intuitive.Ĭoncerns about Studio One. I briefly looked at Reaper, but I felt it was not safe enough to invest in it. That leaves me with Apple's Logic Studio, Mackie Tracktion, and Presonus Studio One. Cubase is out because I don't want another dongle in my life. NEW DAW FOR MAC PROPro Tools is out because I don't want to be restricted about which hardware I can support. I'm looking for a new DAW, and I won't consider Pro Tools or Cubase. I've been a MOTU user since OS 9 and DP 2.5.
